Let’s start with the truth.
I Sam. 6:5b ….and ye shall give glory unto the God of Israel: peradventure he will lighten his hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land. Ps. 115:1 Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake. Jer. 13:16 Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness. Mal. 2:2 If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay give it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart. Rev. 4:9 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
Recently, the world has been tuned in to the 2026 Winter Olympics. In addition to that, and every year, the Grammy awards, the Oscar awards, the Emmys, etc., etc., etc., you name it, have been broadcast world wide to show how “great” these “stars” accomplishments have been.
I actually heard one of the commentators of the Olympics say that we all come together “in the name of sports.” Well, if that isn’t one of the grossest statements of idolatry, then I don’t know what is. As the world loves to give glory to man, the world, at the same time, grows darker and darker for this same reason.
Rom. 1:21-25 21Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. 24Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
These awards that are given to these competitors have turned into little gods and idols to be worshipped, not only by the participants themselves, but also by the spectators of the world. The claim that these arrogant broadcasters make is that these games unify the world. What a lie! The only true and righteous unification, and the only hope for the same, is through and by way of Jesus Christ!
John. 17:20-23 20Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21That they all may be one; as thou, Father, giveart in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: 23I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
There will never be a true unification without Jesus. The world is proclaiming a false unification and the foolish heart has been darkened by the lies of the Devil (Rom. 1:21). In reality, what was accomplished by these Olympic Games? The only thing that people will know is, who is the winner and who is the loser! And even this will be forgotten in about three days! Granted, these competitors have wonderful talents and abilities, and I’m sure both winners and losers worked very hard to attain one of these little gold, silver, or bronze idols. The difference between physical training and spiritual training is this: true believers and confessors in Jesus as Lord will receive eternal rewards from Him, not corruptible awards given by man.
I Cor. 9:26-27 26I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: 27But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
The word, castaway, in vs. 27 is the Greek word, adokimos, meaning, not standing the test; not approved; rejected; unfit for. In other words, we keep ourselves under subjection to the Lord Jesus Christ. In doing so, we have sure rewards laid up for us in heaven, given by our Lord Jesus Christ!
It’s the same with all of the previously mentioned Oscars, Grammys, etc. The only ones who receive glory in all of those scenarios are the people who receive the accolades for their accomplishments. They are separated from the losers, those that were rejected. We, as true believers, will never be rejected by God, nor His Son, Jesus. We are never losers as long as we keep the Son, our Lord Jesus, as lord in our lives!
I Cor. 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
And then, of course, we can’t forget the very world popular Super Bowl half time show this year.
Most of the world was cheering and dancing to, I don’t even know what because I couldn’t even understand a single word of Bad Bunny’s performance. And it was BAD! It was some of the most graphic, pornographic, sexually disgusting performance I have ever seen—aired on public television, at a family event (even if heavily edited, the themes still remain). What was celebrated was not art or culture —it was sexual degradation and perversion masquerading as cultural empowerment. It was not unification but separation! It was meticulously packaged, enthusiastically applauded, and willingly streamed into millions of homes.
To those quick to label any objection as “racism”: that accusation is lazy and dishonest. This has absolutely nothing to do with skin color or race. It had everything to do with degrading the concept of wholesome family entertainment, separation of cultures and countries, and morals to say the least. Just because you didn’t understand the words does not give you spiritual exemption.
Let me be crystal clear. When you invite filth into your home, you invite the demonic spirit attached to it. What you allow to pass through your eyes and ears shapes your heart and soul and your household—whether you acknowledge it or not.
We get exasperated over broken marriages, rampant pornography addiction, sexual exploitation, trafficking, and scandals—then we turn around and cheer for the very imagery, lyrics, and dark fantasies brought to life that feed those evils. We celebrate hell, then act shocked when we see it taking over everything around us. You want to talk about giving glory to where it does not belong? There it is!
Christ calls us to be separate and holy, not relevant to the times, nor does He call us to be trendy. I would rather be unpopular with Christ than to be popular with the world.
God bless you.
