Luke 18:27b… The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
Susan and Jim owned a commercial building half of which Jim used for his dental practice. For fifteen years they experienced no trouble renting out the other half and depended on the extra income to pay their bills.
Then they lost their tenant. A real estate agent told them forget about advertising for a while because absolutely no one is renting. To ease her financial worries Susan started swimming laps at her local YMCA pool.
One day when she was feeling especially anxious, she decided to pray as she swam using the alphabet to keep track of the number of laps. During this prayer time she focused on adjectives that described God.
God, starting with the letter A she said you are the almighty God she prayer on lap one. A benevolent God a beautiful God she prayed on the next lap. A caring, creative, can do God… by the time she got to the 26th lap her fears were gone, she knew God would provide.
A short time later a physical therapist called to say she saw the "for rent" sign in the window and asked to see the office. It was what she wanted so she and her partner rented the place.
Luke 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.
ASV Luke 1:37 For no word from God shall be void of power.
When we line up our words with his word things begin to move.
Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Three times the word say or saith is used. We must learn to speak our God given promises into being by declaring his word.
Romans 10:9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
You will notice here that confession proceeds results. We don't receive and then confess. We confess what the word says and then we believe the word and receive.
Genesis 18:14 Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.
Don't let anybody tell you that you can't do something. Don't accept the lies of the devil when he whispers you're a failure or you can't do that. Don't listen to the lies he places in your mind. Lies like "you will never be successful or no one will ever love you."
Did you ever say I just can't catch a break? Or if it wasn't for bad luck I'd have no luck.
Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
NJB Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the gift of the tongue, those who indulge it must eat the fruit it yields.
Watch your words and if you decide to speak declare what the word states.
KJG Proverbs 15:4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.
The Hebrew word rendered wholesome means 1) health, healing, cure. Most of the time this word is translated health or healing.
NIV Proverbs 15:4 The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.
Are your words bringing life to you or death? Health or sickness? Peace or anxiety? Prosperity or lack? Gratitude or complaining? Forgiveness or hatred. The list goes on and on. The point is don't spend time in payer with God just to cancel the results with the words of your mouth.
NIV Jeremiah 32:17 "Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.
Get yourself around positive people who will build you up with the words of their mouth.
BBE Jeremiah 32:27 See, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there anything so hard that I am unable to do it?
Susan still prays while swimming laps after all she says I've discovered that God's goodness stretches from A to Z. Because he is an Almighty God; a bountiful father who is compassionate and dedicated to his children -- giving them eternal life; faithful to his word; gracious and healing; doing the impossible to all who call upon his name; making us joint - heirs showing kindness and loving mercy to all who call on the name of Jesus. His ordinances bring peace and quietness; righteousness and salvation. He is tender and understanding. His voice is wisdom and knowledge. The xenagogue (guide) is His Word which is the same yesterday, today and forever for we will rejoice with the great king of Zion.
Try praying that way next time you have an hour to spend with God.
