our flagOne Nation Under God?

Go to the previous issue.

As we approach the mid-term elections this year I like to encourage you to remember your obligation and responsibility to our heavenly father to vote.

As we go to the polls this November 8th our goal and motive should be to vote according to biblical principles. It makes no difference how you are registered Republican or Democrat what's important is that you vote God's way for only then can we expect the blessing of God on our nation.

Isaiah 33:22 For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.

The LORD is judge, lawgiver, and king only he can save us.

Psalm 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

About five weeks into the Constitutional Convention of 1787 when our country was attempting to draft the U. S. Constitution; their efforts were a signal failure.

As things were beginning to break up and delegates return home to their states, Founding father Benjamin Franklin challenged them and called them to prayer. He told them:

In this situation of this Assembly, groping as it were in the dark to find political truth, and scarce able to distinguish it when presented to us, how has it happened, sir, that we have not hitherto once thought of humbly applying to the Father of Lights to illuminate our understanding?

In the beginning of the contest with Great Britain, when we were sensible of danger, we had daily prayer in this room for the Divine protection. Our prayers, sir, were heard, and they were graciously answered.

All of us who were engaged in the struggle must have of a superintending Providence in our favor.

And have we now forgotten that powerful Friend? Or do we imagine we no longer need His assistance? I have lived, sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth – that God governs in the affairs of men.And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured, sir, in the Sacred Writings, that "except the Lord build the House, they labor in vain that build it."

I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without His concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel.

I therefore beg leave to move that henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessings on our deliberations, be held in this Assembly every morning before we proceed to business.
Psalm 127:1 Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Charles Thomson Secretary of the Continental Congress and a strong Christian, was one of only two people who signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4th (John Hancock was the other; the rest signed weeks later).Thomson is also responsible for the Great Seal of the United States, which he prepared and Congress approved in 1782.

Thomson served fifteen years in the Continental Congress, and his political career came to a close when he notified George Washington that he had been unanimously selected the President of the United States. But Thomson was not only a great patriot and supporter of the American cause; he was also a great supporter of the Word of God. In fact, his name is associated with some of America's greatest Biblical works.

For example, his name, as Secretary of Congress, is found in the introduction to the Aitken Bible, also known as "The Bible of the Revolution," which was the first Bible printed in English in America. That Bible was printed by Robert Aitken, the official printer of the Continental Congress (Aitken described that Bible as "a neat edition of the Holy Scriptures for the use of schools"), and was reviewed and approved by a committee of the Continental Congress, with an official congressional endorsement published in the front of that Bible.

Thomson was also responsible for the first American translation of the Greek Septuagint (the full Greek Bible) into English in 1808 – a task that consumed nearly two decades of his life. Thomson's Bible is a four volume-set that is considered one of the most scholarly of American Bible translations, and that translation is still available today.

In 1815, Thomson published his famous Synopsis of the Four Evangelists, in which he took all the passages from the four Gospels and arranged them chronologically, thus producing something like one super long Gospel, with all Jesus' words and acts arranged sequentially. Today, we call such a work a synoptic Gospel.

Sadly today, Charles Thomson has become a forgotten Founding Father, but his contributions, both politically and spiritually, permanently shaped the course of America and blessed American life. Our nation's history is replete with examples of our ancestors respect and reliance on God. Our laws reflected the counsel of God, and for this we were blessed as a nation.

Our founding fathers knew that without the father's favor their labor would be in vain.

Daniel 5:21b the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.

That is quite a testimony regarding the history our early congress. Thomson served fifteen years in the Continental Congress. Franklin who was a Founding Fathers of the United States, a drafter and signer of the United States Declaration of Independence, and the first United States Postmaster General realized the need for God in government.

Recently Rep. Gregory Steube (R-FL) began to quote the Bible when speaking against a Democratic introduced Equality Act, which would increasingly normalize transgenderism and force the government to fund abortions in the House of Representatives.

Just this week Oct 25, 2022 AOL's welcome screen highlighted that for the first time in history there are LGBTQ candidates on the ballots in all 50 states.

As Steube was speaking within seconds, Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) interrupted him. Nadler, apparently angered by the mention of God, loudly yelled into his microphone, "God's will is no concern of this Congress."

Steube then began to quote from Dr. Tony Evans' commentary on a passage of scripture, which explained that, the "gender confusion" present in 21st century American culture is a "clear rejection of God's good design." "Whenever a nation's laws no longer reflect the standards of God, that nation is in rebellion against Him, and will inevitably bear the consequences,"

It's not clothing or personal style that offends God, but rather the use of one's appearance to act out or take on a sexual identity different from the one biologically assigned by God at birth.

In His wisdom, God intentionally made each individual uniquely either male or female. When men or women claim to be able to choose their own sexual identity, they are making a statement that God did not know what He was doing when He created them.

Congressman Jerry Nadler is a poor example of a public servant a disgrace to our country and one who words are in direct opposition to God.

KJG Job 38:2 Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?

Government is supposed to protect God's word and God's will in the land so people can enjoy the freedom to pursue what God has called them to be. God's word addresses government officials who act this way.

NIV Romans 9:20 But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? "Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, 'Why did you make me like this?'"

As a voter you have a responsibility to God and your country to vote NO to any policy that contradicts God's word.

Abortion is sin and condemned by God. Any party / candidate supporting abortion is in direct opposition to God. If you are a bible believing Christian who speaks the name of Jesus Christ you cannot vote for any party / candidate who supports abortion. You must side with God and vote NO.

Same sex marriage is a sin and condemned by God. Any party / candidate supporting same sex marriage is in direct opposition to God. If you are a bible believing Christian who speaks the name of Jesus Christ you cannot vote for any party / candidate who supports same sex marriage. You must side with God and vote NO.

There are only two sexes male and female. If you are a bible believing Christian who speaks the name of Christ you cannot vote for any party / candidate who supports gender confusion. You must side with God and vote NO.

God knew what he was doing when he made only a male and a female. Any party /candidate who supports gender confusion is in direct opposition to God.

Today's world is upside down and chaos prevails because many of our elected officials have turned their back on God.

NIV Isaiah 29:16 You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay! Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, "He did not make me"? Can the pot say of the potter, "He knows nothing"?

You will never win a fight with the creator you only bring destruction upon yourself.

NLT Isaiah 45:9-11 9"Destruction is certain for those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot ever argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, 'Stop, you are doing it wrong!' Does the pot exclaim, 'How clumsy can you be!' 10How terrible it would be if a newborn baby said to its father and mother, 'Why was I born? Why did you make me this way?'" 11This is what the LORD, the Creator and Holy One of Israel, says: "Do you question what I do? Do you give me orders about the work of my hands?

Side with God when you vote this November and vote for God's law's in our country.
